In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the world has seen a rise in the adoption of digital learning solutions, particularly in low-income communities where access to quality education is limited. The Top Parent App is one such solution that has made a significant impact on bridging the learning gap for children from low-income families. It has consistently demonstrated both scale and engagement, reaching ~500K+ low-income families with 250K+ active users.
Recognized as a winner by the global EdTech competition, Tools Competition, and awarded a prize to help develop the app further to impact more low-income communities; The app has been designed to empower parents and caregivers with the tools and resources they need to support their children's education at home.
Top Parent App integrates multimedia content that includes educational videos for children, parent facing videos to scaffold learning through play, gamified worksheets and monthly assessments that are mapped to an accelerated learning curriculum to take the child from emergent to foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN).
A well-structured continuous assessment system at the back end monitors child performance and deploys personalised content and parental nudges that support them on their learning progression. In addition, a fun family quiz and a reward system provides a gamified environment to incentivize use and engagement on the app.
Moreover, the app is now moving towards an Accelerated Learning Framework (ALF) model, to address learning loss by ensuring personalised learning for each child and building mastery of various competencies. The focus for this is on two key aspects: Parent Engagement and Accelerated Learning in Literacy and Numeracy.
The new ALF (Accelerated Learning Framework) model will be able to track how learners learn at a faster rate in acquiring the learning competencies, how learners explore multiple other competencies at the given time, how much percentages of content can learners skip through adaptive learning and focus on essential content, and completion rate of competencies with assessment scores.
NIPUN Bharat, an initiative launched by the Ministry of Education in India, also recognizes the critical need to empower low-income families with education opportunities. It aims to improve the foundational literacy and numeracy skills of children from low-income communities across the country. The Top Parent App aligns perfectly with the goals of NIPUN Bharat by providing parents and caregivers with a platform to actively participate in their child's education.
At its core, the Top Parent App seeks to address challenges faced by disenfranchised communities such as, inadequate infrastructure, lack of awareness about the importance of education, and limited access to resources. By providing parents and caregivers with access to personalised learning materials, parenting advice, and tools to track their child's progress, the app seeks to supplement their education and bridge the gap created by a lack of resources.
With a goal of impacting 5 million families by 2025, Top Parent App is fostering an engagement focused ecosystem by providing access to quality learning materials and a supportive community to facilitate their children's academic success and bridge the learning gap post-pandemic.
The Top Parent App is available for download on Google Play Store.
